I don't know about you but I think this hotel is perfect. It marries coastal vibes with new designs and I love it. I feel like walking through this hotel will just make you smile. From the lobby, to the adorable guest rooms, even to the cool ceilings in the meeting rooms surely to liven up a boring meeting. Check it out for yourself. *look out for the Ctrl - Alt - Delete pillows in the guest room* As always let me know if you come across a hotel that just 'speaks to you'. I'd love to check it out!
As some of you know I am obsessed with San Fran. I would live there if I could and honestly I wish I could live here at Hotel Zephyr. This is the only boutique hotel that has a waterfront view in all of SF. How gorgeous is that view? This hotel is aiming to please the entertainment seekers like myself, with life sized tick tack toe on the great lawn, a sustainable food truck, and even a game room. I think this would be a great place to take kids ages 10+ since they can find something to do after a long day of sight seeing. And hey it might bring the family closer to have a little ping pong tournament. Ya never know. All I know is I am going to SF soon and I've got to check it out. You should too... http://www.hotelzephyrsf.com/
Side note: How cute are those runners? SOS - lol. Plus the penguin pillow is just the icing on the cake.
I came across this absolutely adorable boutique hotel and thought I would share! These type of properties give me such joy. It is so unique and so different how could you not fall in love and come back again? Let me know what you think. My personal favorite thing about this design is how out there the public spaces are and how calm and simple the rooms are in comparison. This way if some amazing new trend comes along they can change the public spaces and leave the guest rooms.. what do you think? Am i crazy? or spot on?

It’s about time I wrote my thoughts about HD.. Don't ya think?
And at any point, if you were there and had a different option, let me know below! I love to hear your thoughts.
First off I thought it was overwhelming. From the moment you want in and see these huge signs saying ‘Fabricut’ ‘Durkan’ ‘Lexmark’ and many other big name companies within our industry. I was like wow okay where on earth do I start. We strategized and went from one far side and made our way over. This way we didn’t get distracted or stuck at all the big names first thing.. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have moved. By doing so I got to see some really cool vendors I wouldn’t normally see. I saw this really cool new type of wallcovering. (I could totally be explaining this completely wrong and I apologize but this is how I interpreted it) So basically this company makes these huge planks and carves patterns out of them.. And you can put them outside in-between spaces to provide some privacy.. or choose a design that brings a lot of light in.. Either way they add another dimension and more creativity to the space which I love. And they were hidden all the way in the corner.. I wonder how much traction they got? Hmmm
So besides finding different and cool vendors I got to see my amazing reps and all of their beautiful lines showing new product. Fabricut has their new wall vinyl and Lexmark came out with carpet tile.. I for one love to see the new stuff.. But when I see it at HD I want a book or something in my library in a week or so. Everyone I asked to update my library had some answer like ‘we are still working on our books you’ll have them in a little over a month’ like no you got my all hype for this new product I want to spec it right away.. Does anyone else feel that way?
Overall it was a great show.. I may or may not have had to sit down for hours after being on my feet for so long but it was definitely worth it. If you attended please let me know your thoughts and maybe a new favorite vendor? Can’t wait for the 2018 Expo.. Who knows what we might find.. (Insert a picture of those weird massive lamp light things.. if you attended.. you know what I mean J)
Hi Friends! Who is attending the HD Expo in Vegas next week? This is where all of the vendors of the hospitality industry get to show off their newest product. We get to see it here first before it really launches into the industry. It is kind of like a sneak peek. I love it and couldn’t be more excited. Let me know if you are attending or cannot make it and want to learn more about a specific vendor.. I will do my absolute best to stop by their booth and relay the info back to you. I love learning about how our industry is progressing forward and if I can help any of you learn I would love that more than anything.
SO stay tuned.. I’ll have lots to talk about when I get back.

It is about time I talked about Best Western. I cannot believe how much they are stepping it up. They are creating new brands left and right for the millennials like me but are also looking at the value of some hotels and almost putting an upgraded label on it ‘Best Western Premier Collection’. The world collection already makes it exclusive and extravagant don’t you think? Well at least that’s what I thought. So I looked into it. And look at the unique beautiful hotels I found. The top collection of photos is the Grand Hotel Royal in Viareggio, Italy. The second grouping of photos is the Winchester Royal Hotel in Winchester, England. I just love the fact that BW is making hotels like this not only accessible but very welcoming. I applaud you Best Western for not only looking into the future with your new brands, like Vib and Glo but appreciating what is already existing and timeless with this BW Premier Collection.
Do you know what I realized? I haven’t posted about wall vinyl (that I can remember). I have a pretty unique view on wall vinyl in hotels because I see both sides. Yes its beautiful and adds to the room but is it something that you could keep on the wall for ten years? Which we all know owners love to do.
I personally love the really accent, dramatic wall vinyl’s behind a front desk.. But in 4-5 years is it still going to be relevant? I am a firm believer that if you can find a decently priced wall vinyl to go for it. Because it will add a lot of eye pop to a room and or lobby. I am not one of those designers to add $200 of wall vinyl in hot pink to a guest room. Yes it will be dramatic and probably end up awesome but then in a couple of years when it starts to wear and the top of bed starts to change again.. nothing will match it.
What do you think? I want to know your thoughts!
Yes you read that correctly.. MIMOSA
I have found my dream hotel of all times!!! And guess what?! It’s named H10 CASA MIMOSA! MIMOSA! I am booking my flight now to my absolute favorite place, Barcelona. I mean come on. Tell me this isn’t the absolute cutest thing you’ve seen all day? The designer embraces the structures ‘luxury simplicity’ looks and transferred it inside beautifully. Seriously take a look for yourself friends. Could anyone else go for a mimosa right now? I mean the real ones.. plus this hotel! Can you believe it’s only $130 a night? Spain Summer 17’ Trip.. Who’s with me?!
Okay seriously this hotel is exactly what I see the future of hotels looking like. (Probably because it is my exact design taste) But seriously look at this place! Hotel William Gray is in the heart of Montreal, Canada. Not only did they keep everything light and fresh on the interior but they do such a great job blending the exterior with the interior. Neither over shadows one another it is more of a balancing act. I mean come on.. Look at those views. Going to Canada anytime soon? Please take me with you!
Look at how beautiful this restaurant is! I am seriously obsessed. The designers took the original buildings integrity to heart when designing this interior. I admire how they mix the modern chandeliers with the classic black and white tiles. What do y’all think?
